A 2-month-old infant presented with a small, bulging right eye producing several millimeters of proptosis. His birth weight and early history have been normal. He has two older siblings who are normal. There is no family history of anything like this.

True. However, the eye/orbit do not look inflamed or congested so orbital and preseptal cellulitis are unlikely. An encephalocele could cause proptosis but they tend to be nasal and superior and would not typically be associated with microphthalmia as found in this particular patient.
