Dr. Jason R. Chin

Optometry

About Me:

Dr. Jason Chin is a graduate of McGill University, and he received his Optometry Degree from the New England College of Optometry in 2004, where he graduated with clinical honors and was the local and national recipient of the Alcon Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Chin also furthered his specialty training by completing a cornea and contact lens residency in 2005 at the New England College of Optometry, where he was awarded the American Optometric Foundation’s “Dr. George Mertz Contact Lens Residency Award” after completion. This award for optometric excellence during residency was given to only one of the many contact lens residents nationwide at that time. After completing his residency, Dr. Chin was a full-time Professor at the New England College of Optometry before switching to full-time private practice. He still enjoys teaching optometry students and still teaches a contact lens lab at the college, but Dr. Chin now practices full-time at Andover Eye Associates in addition to being the principal investigator for Andover Eye Institute and a clinical consultant for ORA. Inc. At Andover Eye Associates, Dr. Chin sees patients of all ages for routine and medical care, but he specializes in specialty fit contact lenses and enjoys the challenges of these complex types of fits. He has been involved in all aspects of the clinical research process for more than 25 years, as he worked full-time in clinical research before going to optometry school. Dr. Chin has served as an investigator and consultant for national clinical trials on contact lenses for various contact lens companies around the US, as well as an investigator on numerous ophthalmic allergy and dry eye drug trials. At Andover Eye Institute, he continues to be actively involved in clinical trials pertaining to contact lenses, dry eyes, allergies, and Phase IV post-marketing studies. He has authored several articles that have been published in various ophthalmology and optometry journals, and he has presented and lectured at various optometry and ophthalmology meetings both nationally and internationally. Dr. Chin was awarded a Fellowship to the American Academy of Optometry in 2006 in their Cornea and Contact Lens Section. Dr. Chin is also a Member of the Association for Research in Visual Ophthalmology (ARVO), the Association of Optometric Contact Lens Educators.

Why did you want to become a Cybersight Mentor?

Having gained extensive knowledge through my career, I felt it was important to be able to pass that knowledge on to those who might otherwise not have access to it on their own. Passing on this knowledge not only helps doctors, but also the patients whom they are responsible for caring.
