About Me:
Ron Pelton, MD/PhD, completed a Fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery at the University of Utah, following a Residency in Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. He earned his MD from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and his PhD in Cell Biology from the same institution. As a Fulbright Scholar in Graz, Austria, Dr. Pelton studied Medical Biochemistry. His undergraduate degree is from Hendrix College, where he obtained a BA in Chemistry. Dr. Pelton has held numerous leadership and advisory roles in the field of ophthalmology, including serving on the Board of Trustees for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has also served on numerous committees for the AAO. Dr. Pelton has twice served as President of the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and has served as an American Board of Ophthalmology Oral Board Examiner since 2006. Dr Pelton has been a member of the OMIC Board and committees since 2011. Dr. Pelton takes special pride in his work in developing countries with his work with ORBIS International and the Hawaiian Eye Foundation. Through these non-profits, Dr. Pelton has worked in countries such as Zambia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Myanmar, performing and teaching Oculofacial Plastic Surgery to local surgeons.
